"Lacrosse, considered to be America's first sport, was born of the North American Indian, christened by the French, and adapted and raised by the Canadians. Athletes and enthusiasts of the United States and the British Commonwealth have embraced modern lacrosse for over a century. The sport is a combination of basketball, soccer and hockey. Anyone can play lacrosse - the big or the small. The game requires and rewards coordination and agility, not brawn. Quickness and speed are two highly prized qualities in lacrosse."
Both girls and boys enjoy the game of modern lacrosse. The girl's game emphasizes skill and ball handling. Since physical contact is penalized in the girl's game, eye and mouth guards are the only protective equipment required. The boy's game allows more physical contact, and requires players to wear helmets with a face cage, shoulder pads, arm pads and padded gloves.
The fall season runs from mid-September to early December. Both boys and girls teams play under the U.S. Lacrosse guidelines organized by the North Texas Chapter of USL.
