Thank you for your interest in becoming a volunteer coach with ASA!
As a volunteer-based organization we rely heavily on volunteer parents and other community members to step up and coach our sports teams. Without our volunteers we could not provide the programs we are able to offer to our community.
If you are interested in coaching or have been asked to coach a team, we have provided some information on this page about our requirements for all of our volunteer coaches.
REGISTRATION
All coaches must register online each season for each sport. We do not know who will continue from season to season so coaches must tell us they are coaching by registering online at the link below. Once a registration account has been established coaches can log in any time from the "Member Login" button at the top of the page.
REGISTER TO COACH
*By registering as a coach you are authorizing Allen Sports Association to run a criminal background check. All coaches must have a criminal background check run every 12 months by the Allen Sports Association in order to coach or volunteer. This background check will be completed during the player/coach open registration period for the sport you have registered to coach. Once you have registered online the background check will be run automatically. Background checks can take up to 3 business days to be completed. Once a background check is clear and complete the coach will be moved to the team roster.
CERTIFICATION
As a co-sponsored organization of the City of Allen, the Allen Sports Association must offer a coach certification program for all coaches & volunteers in the association.
We are proud to partner with Positive Coaching Alliance to help us meet our needs of coach certification.
All ASA volunteer coaches and board members must attend at least one Positive Coaching Alliance workshop within the first year of coaching/volunteering with ASA. The approximately 1-hour workshops are scheduled 3-4 times per year to give several options for attendance. Our next PCA Coach Workshop will be held:
TIME: TBD
DATE: TBD

COACH ID BADGE
All approved ASA volunteer coaches must have a coach ID badge. The coach ID badge gives our ASA families peace of mind that their volunteer coach is registered, has had a criminal background check and has attended a Positive Coaching Alliance Workshop. The coach ID badge also gives coaches access to restricted coach areas on the courts and fields. Volunteers without a coach ID badge will be asked to leave these areas (dug out, football sidelines, coach bench for volleyball/basketball, etc.)
Once a volunteer coach has registered online, cleared a criminal background check, been moved to the team roster and has attended the PCA Coach Workshop they can visit the ASA office during regular business hours, 9 am to 5 pm Monday through Friday or 8 am to noon on Saturday to have a badge made. Please bring a driver license or state identification card to obtain a coach ID badge. Please allow at least 5-10 minutes to have a badge made especially during peak badge times prior to the start of the season. The coach ID badge includes a photo so please be prepared to take a photo when you arrive.
The ASA Coach ID Badge is valid for 3 years. An annual sticker will be provided after the initial badge has been created. Annual renewal stickers can be obtained each year at the ASA office or at the sport's annual coach's meeting. All requirements listed above will need to be completed in order to get an annual renewal sticker. Once the card has 3 annual renewal stickers, a new badge will need to be made.
